- Tesla's Shanghai Megafactory today saw the first 1,000 Megapack energy storage systems roll off the production line, which will be shipped to Europe.
- The Megafactory officially began production on February 11 and is Tesla's first energy storage project outside the US.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) announced on Weibo that its Shanghai Megafactory has produced its 1,000th Megapack energy storage system, which will be shipped to Europe.
From the first unit to the 1,000th, the Shanghai factory achieved this milestone in less than six months, the company said.
Currently, Tesla's energy products are deployed in over 65 countries and regions worldwide, improving power generation and transmission efficiency and enabling grids to operate more efficiently, the company said.
Tesla began construction of the Shanghai Megafactory on May 23, 2024, marking its first energy storage project outside its US home market.
The Megafactory officially began production on February 11 in the Lingang area of Pudong, Shanghai, which is also the location of Tesla's EV factory producing the Model 3 and Model Y in China.
On March 21, Tesla said it had shipped the first batch of Megapacks produced at the Shanghai Megafactory to overseas market.
Tesla's energy storage products include Powerwall, Powerpack, and Megapack. The Shanghai Megafactory primarily produces the Megapack, an ultra-large commercial energy storage battery, for global markets.
The Megapack's annual production capacity at the Megafactory will reach 10,000 units, with an energy storage capacity of nearly 40 GWh, Tesla previously said.
The Megapack is a powerful battery that can store and supply energy, helping to stabilize the grid and prevent power outages. The 40 GWh capacity is enough to power 50,000 households in Shanghai for a year.
The Megapack looks like a shipping container and weighs over 38 tons.
A single Megapack can store about 3,900 kWh of electricity, equivalent to the battery capacity of 62 Model 3 rear-wheel-drive vehicles, Tesla previously said.
