Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) has launched the B01, adding another competitive option to China's affordable mid-size electric sedan market.
The company officially rolled out the B01 at an event today, with a starting price of RMB 89,800 ($12,550), a decrease of RMB 16,000, or 15.12 percent, from the RMB 105,800 pre-sales starting price announced in late June.
Specifically, Leapmotor offers six variants of the B01, with starting prices of RMB 89,800, RMB 95,800, RMB 103,800, RMB 109,800, RMB 113,800, and RMB 119,800.
The lowest-priced variant is newly added, with a CLTC range of 430 kilometers.
Leapmotor was offering five variants of the B01 in its pre-sales, including three with a CLTC range of 550 kilometers, priced at RMB 105,800, RMB 115,800, and RMB 125,800; and two with a CLTC range of 650 kilometers, priced at RMB 125,800 and RMB 135,800.
The highest-priced variants with a range of 550 km and 650 km are equipped with LiDAR to provide better smart driving performance.
The model supports functions including highway pilot assist, commuting pilot assist, and parking lot memory parking.
The B01 is the second model in Leapmotor's B series, with the first model, the B10 SUV (sport utility vehicle), launched on April 10.
The electric sedan made its debut at the 2025 Shanghai auto show in April, with a length, width, and height of 4,770 mm, 1,880 mm, and 1,490 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,735 mm.
One of the B01's main competitors is Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) Mona M03, which measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm.
Both models are slightly larger than Tesla's Model 3, which measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,848 mm in width, and 1,442 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.
The B01 is equipped with a single motor and offers three rear motor options with peak power outputs of 100 kW, 132 kW, and 160 kW, and peak torques of 175 Nm, 175 Nm, and 240 Nm, respectively.
This powertrain enables the B01 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 to 9.4 seconds.
It comes standard with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, with the entry-level variant featuring a capacity of 43.9 kWh. The three variants with a range of 550 km have a battery pack capacity of 56.2 kWh, while the two variants with a range of 650 km have a capacity of 67.1 kWh.
The model supports fast charging, enabling it to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in about 18 minutes.
Leapmotor currently sells the T03, B10, C01, C10, C11, and C16 models in China. Except for the T03 and B10, which are only available as battery electric vehicles (BEVs), all other models are also available as extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).
The B series is aimed at a lower price point than the C series and higher sales volumes.
On March 10, Leapmotor management said in a media interview that they were confident in achieving monthly sales of over 40,000 units for the B series.
The company delivered a record 48,006 vehicles in June, a year-on-year increase of 138.65 percent and a month-on-month increase of 6.52 percent.
In the first half of the year, Leapmotor delivered 221,664 vehicles, up 155.68 percent year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
