Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has quietly made minor upgrades to the long-range versions of its Model 3 electric sedan and Model Y SUV (sport utility vehicle) in China, with the former seeing a price increase while the latter remains unchanged.
The price of the Model 3 long-range all-wheel drive version has been increased by RMB 10,000 ($1,400) to the new price of RMB 285,500, according to information on Tesla China's website.
This represents a 3.63 percent increase from the previous price of RMB 275,500 for this variant.
The CLTC range of the Model 3 long-range version has been extended from 713 kilometers to 753 kilometers, and the 0-100 km/h acceleration time has been reduced from 4.4 seconds to 3.8 seconds.
This change appears to be Tesla making the previously optional Acceleration Boost package, priced at RMB 14,100, a standard feature for the long-range Model 3.
Tesla began offering the Acceleration Boost option in China in 2020, which reduces the 0-100 km/h acceleration time of the Model 3 long-range all-wheel drive version from 4.6 seconds to 4.1 seconds after the upgrade.
Additionally, the delivery wait time for the long-range Model 3 in China has been reduced from the previous 3-5 weeks to the current 1-3 weeks, according to CnEVPost's daily monitoring.
The other two variants of the Model 3 in China -- the entry-level rear-wheel drive version and the all-wheel drive performance version -- have not seen changes in price or specifications, with starting prices remaining at RMB 235,500 and RMB 339,500, respectively. Their wait times also remain unchanged at 1-3 weeks and 8-10 weeks, respectively.
The long-range version of the Model Y has also seen an increase in range, from the previous 719 kilometers to 750 kilometers. The starting price for this variant remains at RMB 313,500, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds.
The entry-level rear-wheel-drive variant of the Model Y in China has not seen any changes to its key specifications, with the starting price remaining at RMB 263,500 and the CLTC range at 593 kilometers.
The latest delivery wait times for both variants of the Model Y are 1-3 weeks, compared to 2-4 weeks for the entry-level version and 3-5 weeks for the long-range version previously.
In addition to the minor upgrades for the Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla has continued its previous purchase incentives in China, including an RMB 8,000 paid paint discount, an RMB 8,000 insurance subsidy, and five-year interest-free financing for select variants.
