Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) maintained strong delivery momentum last month despite a decline from April.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered 33,525 vehicles in May, marking the seven consecutive month of deliveries exceeding 30,000 units, according to data released today.
This represents a 230.43 percent increase from the 10,146 vehicles delivered in the same period last year, though a 4.34 percent decrease from the 35,045 vehicles delivered in April.
In the first five months of the year, Xpeng delivered 162,578 vehicles, up 293.08 percent year-on-year.
As of the end of May, Xpeng's cumulative deliveries since its inception totaled 752,957 vehicles, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Xpeng X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) delivered 3,227 units in May, up 99 percent year-on-year and up 35 percent month-on-month, the company said.
The company launched the 2025 X9 on April 15, with a starting price of RMB 359,800 ($49,970), its most expensive model.
Xpeng plans to launch the X9 MPV in Europe in the second half of 2025, He Xiaopeng, the company's chairman and CEO, said at the launch event.
The company launched new variants of the Mona M03 electric sedan on May 28, including the Max and Plus models, with the Max variant featuring capabilities similar to Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD).
The Mona M03 Max offers two options, with starting prices of RMB 129,800 ($18,040) and RMB 139,800, respectively, and CLTC ranges of 502 km and 600 km.
Xpeng has equipped the Mona M03 Max with the Turing smart driving system, which provides advanced AI-assisted driving capabilities without additional fees or subscriptions, covering all public roads in China.
This ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is similar to Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) FSD (Full Self-Driving), marking the first time such advanced driving features have been introduced to a vehicle priced at the $20,000 level globally.
The Mona M03's Max and Plus variants received 12,566 firm orders within the first hour of their launch, Xpeng announced shortly after their launch.
The company will unveil the G7 SUV in June, which it believes would be a highly competitive product in the RMB 250,000 price range.
It will launch the new P7 electric sedan in July-August, targeting the RMB 300,000 market segment.
Xpeng's current lineup includes the Mona M03, P7+ sedan, P7i sedan, X9, G6 SUV, and G9 SUV.
