Xiaomi's (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) electric vehicle (EV) unit, Xiaomi EV, maintained a strong delivery performance last month as it prepares to launch its new model.

Xiaomi EV delivered over 28,000 vehicles in May, it announced today on Weibo, without specifying the exact number as before.

This statement is identical to its April delivery figure of "over 28,000 units," marking the eighth consecutive month that Xiaomi EV has exceeded 20,000 monthly deliveries.

"Meanwhile, we are preparing for mass production of the Xiaomi YU7," Xiaomi EV wrote on Weibo today. The YU7 is its first SUV (sport utility vehicle) model.

In the first quarter, Xiaomi delivered 75,869 SU7 series vehicles, an 8.86 percent increase from the 69,697 units delivered in the fourth quarter, according to its financial report published on May 27.

Xiaomi EV officially launched the SU7 electric sedan on March 28, 2024, positioning it as a competitor to 's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3.

The SU7 comes in three variants -- Standard, Pro, and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($29,990), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.

Deliveries of the Standard and Max versions of the SU7 began in April 2024, while deliveries of the SU7 Pro began in May 2024.

On February 27, Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 Ultra, an electric sedan based on the standard SU7 with a maximum horsepower of 1,548 PS.

The SU7 Ultra starts at RMB 529,900, with deliveries beginning on March 2.

Xiaomi debuted the YU7 electric SUV on May 22, with an official launch scheduled for July.

At the ongoing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, or the 2025 Shenzhen auto show, Xiaomi showcased its full range of products, including the YU7. The event began on May 31 and will run until June 8.

On May 29, the YU7 display vehicle became available at 13 stores in Beijing. By June, the electric SUV display vehicle will gradually be showcased in 92 cities, according to Xiaomi EV.

Xiaomi EV added 29 new stores in May, bringing the total to 298 stores covering 82 Chinese cities.

As of May 31, it has 153 service centers in China, covering 88 cities.
