Nio (NYSE: NIO) has started deliveries of its updated ES6 SUV (sport utility vehicle) and EC6 coupe SUV in China as planned, after launching them last Friday.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker announced on its social media accounts that deliveries of the updated ES6 and EC6 officially began today.
Nio did not mention the number of deliveries of the two facelifted models today and only shared some images.
The company officially launched the updated ES6 and EC6 on May 16, bringing with them many feature upgrades and a switch to Nio's in-house developed smart driving chip.
The updated ES6 is only available in one variant and starts at RMB 338,000 ($46,820) including the standard range battery pack, just like its predecessor.
The updated EC6 is also available in just one variant and starts at RMB 358,000, the same as its predecessor.
Both updated models are powered by one Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip developed by Nio in-house, which the company said has the computing power equivalent to four Nvidia Orin X chips.
The older 2024 Nio models come standard with four Nvidia Orin X chips. The Nio ET9 comes with two Shenji chips.
"We think that Nio has largely maintained the value proposition for the face-lifted ES6 / EC6 SUVs, considering the above-mentioned autonomous driving capability upgrades," Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin said in a research note yesterday.
Customers currently ordering the updated ES6, EC6 can expect delivery in 2-4 weeks, according to CnEVPost's daily monitoring of the Nio App.
Nio has four-digit numbers of existing cars for the updated ES6 and EC6, the company's head of user operations, Yang Bo, said on May 16, according to a screenshot of a chat shared by several auto bloggers last week.
In addition to the updated ES6, EC6, Nio will also launch the updated ET5, ET5 Touring on May 25 -- they have already been available for pre-order since May 10.
