Huawei-backed Aito will officially launch the updated M9 SUV (sport utility vehicle) on March 20, after it began accepting pre-orders for the model earlier this month.
Aito announced the date on Weibo today. Its other new SUV, the M8, will be launched in April.
Initially launched on December 26, 2023, the M9 model is the third model after the M5 and M7 from Aito -- a new brand jointly created by Huawei and Seres Group.
The SUV was initially offered only in six-seater variants, with Aito launching five-seater variants on September 10, 2024 to expand the M9's potential user base.
There are currently seven variants of the M9 with a starting price range of RMB 469,800 ($64,900) to RMB 569,800, making it one of the most expensive models from local Chinese brands.
Last month, the updated Aito M9 entered a regulatory catalog from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), bringing its core specs to light.
The SUV measures 5,230 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,800 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,110 mm, the same as the M9 currently on sale.
On March 6, Aito began accepting pre-orders for the M9 at a pre-sales starting price of RMB 478,000 yuan.
Customers who pay a deposit of RMB 5,000 to reserve the M9 now will receive a RMB 10,000 reduction on the final payment.
Aito announced shortly after the M9's pre-sales began that the model received more than 3,800 pre-orders within an hour.
Aito also began pre-sales of the M8 on March 6, with a starting pre-sales price of RMB 368,000 yuan.
Shortly after the M8's pre-sales began, Aito announced on Weibo that the model received more than 7,500 pre-orders in the first hour.
