Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business said on Weibo today that cumulative firm orders for the Luxeed R7 coupe SUV (sport utility vehicle) have exceeded 80,000 units.
Luxeed, a joint brand between Huawei and Chinese automaker Chery, is one of four new brands currently under the HIMA umbrella, the other three being Seres Group's Aito, BAIC Group's Stelato, and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group's (JAC) Maextro.
In China, a firm order usually refers to an order for which a non-refundable deposit has been paid, although some car companies offer a hesitation period of several days to allow consumers to get a refund.
Luxeed R7 -- the second model of the Luxeed brand, was launched on September 24, 2024, and is the first coupe SUV under the HIMA business.
The model was initially offered only in battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants with a starting price of RMB 259,800 ($35,870).
Last December 19, Luxeed added extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants to the R7 with a starting price of RMB 249,800.
The EREV and BEV variants of the Luxeed R7 have the same dimensions, measuring 4,956 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width and 1,634 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
The model is a competitor to the Model Y. The Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) model measures 4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,624 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.
The Luxeed brand's first vehicle model is the Luxeed S7 all-electric sedan, which initially went on sale on November 28, 2023.
Sales figures for the Luxeed brand are not currently available.
