Geely Auto (HKG: 0175) announced today that it has launched the EX5 all-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) in Australia and New Zealand, marking the expansion of its international presence to Oceania.
The Chinese automaker rolled out the model at an event at Sydney's Luna Park on March 11, and unveiled its international user brand, Geely Go.
By the end of this year, Geely will reach markets including the UK, Brazil and South Africa, adding more than 300 new sales and service outlets and bringing its international channel layout to more than 1,100, said Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group.
The Geely EX5 has already entered a number of markets, picking up more than 1,000 orders within a week of its launch in Indonesia last month, Geely said, adding that the model has also attracted consumer interest in the Philippines and Costa Rica.
The EX5 made its first deliveries in Thailand earlier this month, marking the model's achievement of an overseas delivery milestone, it said.
By the end of 2025, the Geely EX5 will be in more than 20 markets, further enhancing its international presence, Geely said.
The EX5 is Geely's first global model based on the GEA Global Intelligent Electric Architecture with Geely Short Blade Battery, CTB structure.
Over the next three years, Geely will continue to increase the number of products in overseas markets, launching eight new energy vehicle (NEV) models built on the GEA architecture to cover different market segments, it said.
Geely Go aims to create an ecosystem of overseas car enthusiasts across geographies, the company said, adding that the platform will create a space for car owners to communicate by building a user operation system.
Geely established a regional subsidiary in Australia in 2024 and currently has 22 dealer outlets in Australia and two in New Zealand.
The carmaker aims to establish more than 100 dealer outlets in Australia and New Zealand in the future.
