Chinese LiDAR maker RoboSense Technology (HKG: 2498) has reached its one millionth LiDAR delivery, marking a major milestone for the company.

The 1 millionth LiDAR rolled off the production line at RoboSense's manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, where the company is headquartered, on February 21 and was delivered to Shanghai-based company Humanoid Robot on February 24, according to an announcement.

This marks RoboSense as the first company in the world to reach 1 million units with high-channel LiDAR off the line, the company said.

Hong Kong-listed RoboSense is China's largest LiDAR maker, with a large number of customers including (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), SAIC Motor Corp, Auto and Toyota.

For the full year 2024, RoboSense sold 544,200 units of LiDAR products, up 113 percent from 256,000 units in 2023, according to data it released on January 7.

The company sold 519,800 units of LiDAR products for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) in 2024, contributing 95.52 percent of total sales.

LiDARs for robotics and other products sold 24,400 units in 2024, contributing 4.48 percent.

RoboSense's 1 millionth LiDAR, an all-solid-state E1R LiDAR for robotics, was shipped to Shanghai Pudong-based Humanoid Robot as soon as it rolled off the production line to be used in the latter's full-size humanoid robot, the "Qinglong".

The humanoid robot has up to 43 degrees of freedom throughout its body and can walk at a speed of 1 m/s when loaded with 40 kilograms, according to the announcement.

As its automotive LiDAR business matures, RoboSense is investing more resources in the emerging field of robotics.

The company announced a new strategy earlier this year, positioning itself as a "robotics platform company" that provides incremental components and solutions for the AI robotics industry.

To date, the company has launched products including the E1R and Airy LiDAR products for robotics, as well as Active Camera, a new robot vision product, and Papert 2.0, a humanoid hand.
