Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will open a new headquarters building that will allow for a significant expansion of office space as the electric vehicle (EV) maker aims to hire thousands of new employees this year.

The company will open its new headquarters building in Guangzhou in August and plans to expand its offices in other cities, its chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng, said at an annual employee meeting, according to a video shared by Xpeng today.

Xpeng's current headquarters building is located at No. 8 Songgang Road, Changxing Street, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong.

In the new headquarters building, office space will triple to more than 500,000 square meters, Mr. He said, adding that there are 5,000 spots for dining here.

The new building has four underground levels of garages, each of which features double-decker parking spaces, according to He.

Mr. He asked the company's auto-parking technology team that Xpeng's vehicles should be able to automatically complete parking in these double-decker parking spaces, according to the video.

In addition to the new headquarters building in Guangzhou, Xpeng will also begin expanding all of its offices in China, including offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan and Shenzhen, Mr. He said.

Xpeng has added about 5,000 employees in the past year, bringing the total to 21,850, Mr. He said.

In 2025, Xpeng will add an additional 6,000 employees, he said.

Mr. He had mentioned that goal in an internal letter on December 31, saying at the time that the company would welcome the return of talent that had previously worked at Xpeng.

The expansion of office space, as well as the increase in headcount, was announced as Xpeng has seen a significant increase in sales over the past months.

Xpeng delivered 36,695 vehicles in December, the fourth consecutive month of record highs, according to figures it announced on January 1.

This represents an 82.43 percent increase from 20,115 in the same period last year and an 18.77 percent increase from 30,895 in November.

In the fourth quarter, Xpeng deliveries amounted to 91,507 units, an all-time high for a single quarter, exceeding the upper end of the guidance range of 87,000 to 91,000 units.

For the full year of 2024, Xpeng delivered 190,068 vehicles, an increase of 34.23 percent year-on-year.
