Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) CEO Andy An revealed the electric vehicle (EV) maker's product plans for 2025, mentioning for the first time the timing of the company's first hybrid models.

Zeekr will launch three all-new models in 2025, one in each of the second through fourth quarters, An said during a Geely Automobile Holdings (HKG: 0175) call today on its sales targets for this year.

Geely aims to sell 2.71 million vehicles in 2025, including 320,000 under the Zeekr brand, according to a Hong Kong stock exchange announcement yesterday.

Zeekr will launch a shooting brake model based on the Zeekr 007 electric sedan in the second quarter, said An, who is also Geely's president.

The company will launch a full-size flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) in the third quarter and a mid to large-size luxury SUV in the fourth quarter, both of which will be available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants, An said.

An called the Zeekr's hybrid system Super Hybrid, a new form of power that combines the advantages of BEVs, PHEVs and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).

The powertrain can have low energy consumption for highway driving and support long driving ranges while ensuring an all-electric driving experience, according to An.

He did not reveal more, saying that the technology will be unveiled during the 2025 Shanghai auto show, which will be held from April 25 to May 2.

Zeekr currently sells the Zeekr 001 shooting brake, Zeekr 007, Zeekr 009 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), Zeekr X compact SUV (sport utility vehicle), Zeekr 7X SUV, Zeekr Mix min van, all BEVs.

In Geely's last interim results announcements on August 21, 2024, An said the Zeekr would launch a flagship SUV using hybrid technology in the second half of 2025, the first time the company had mentioned a timeline for launching a hybrid model.

Most of China's earliest EV startups targeted the BEV market in the beginning, but experience over the past few years has shown that consumers prefer hybrids without range anxiety.

So far, almost all of the new local car makers except (NYSE: NIO) are already offering or planning to offer hybrid models.

(NYSE: XPEV) unveiled its Kunpeng hybrid system on November 6, 2024, which it said can deliver a combined range of up to 1,400 kilometers with up to 430 kilometers of battery range.

On today's call, An also mentioned that Zeekr added more than 150 stores in 2024, taking the global store count to 538 by the end of 2024.

In 2025, Zeekr will continue to increase the coverage of its sales network in China's less developed tier 3 and tier 4 markets.

At the end of 2024, Zeekr's sales network covered 61 percent of China's tier 3 and tier 4 cities, and that percentage is expected to reach 81 percent by the end of 2025, An said, adding that this is expected to result in more tier 3 and tier 4 city customer reach and volume contribution.

Zeekr delivered 27,190 vehicles in December, its fourth consecutive record month, according to figures it released yesterday.

For the full year 2024, Zeekr delivered 222,123 vehicles, slightly below its target of 230,000 units and up 87.15 percent from 118,685 in 2023.
