The iCar V23 is iCar's second model, after the iCar 03, and is aimed at fashion-conscious young people.
Chery's new electric vehicle (EV) brand iCar has rolled out its second EV model, the iCar V23, following the launch of its first model, the iCar 03, at the end of February this year.
iCar launched the iCar V23 at an event yesterday. Deliveries of the compact all-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle), which has an off-road SUV-like exterior design, will begin later this month.
The iCar V23 is available in three variants, with starting prices of RMB 99,800 ($13,700), RMB 109,800, and RMB 139,800, respectively.
The SUV measures 4,220 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width and 1,845 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,735 mm. The dimensions are similar to BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Yuan Plus, which measures 4,445 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,615 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
The two lower-priced variants of the iCar V23 are equipped with a rear-mounted single electric motor with a maximum power of 100 kW and a maximum torque of 180 Nm. Both variants can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
The highest priced variant additionally has a front electric motor with a peak power of 55 kW, with a combined power of 155 kW and a maximum torque of 292 Nm. This variant can accelerate from 0 to 50 kilometers per hour in 3.5 seconds.
The model has three battery pack options -- a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 47.28 kWh, a 59.93 kWh LFP battery, and an 81.76 kWh lithium ternary battery.
Their corresponding CLTC ranges are 301 kilometers, 401 kilometers and 501 kilometers, respectively.
The model takes less than 30 minutes to charge from 30 percent-80 percent when using fast charging.
The iCar V23's cabin is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and supports CarPlay as well as voice control.
Its smart driving system is powered by Horizon Robotics' Journey 3 chip, which supports highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) features.
Chery officially launched the iCar brand on April 7, 2023, as the group's first independent EV brand.
Aimed at fashion-conscious young people, iCar's products would cover sedans and SUVs, targeting a price range of RMB 150,000-300,000, Chery said last year.
iCar's first model, the iCar 03, went on sale February 28, with a starting price of RMB 109,800 for a battery electric vehicle (BEV) with a boxy look.
The new brand also has a concept car called the iCar GT, which was shown at the end of April 2023 at the Shanghai auto show.
