Xiaomi EV, the car-making arm of Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), will unveil the production version of the SU7 Ultra on October 29, after giving its prototype a go earlier this year.

The production version of the SU7 Ultra will be unveiled at an event on October 29 starting at 7 pm Beijing time, Xiaomi EV announced on Weibo today, adding that reservations for the model are now open.

Separately, Xiaomi said on its Weibo account that it will unveil the Xiaomi 15 series smartphones, HyperOS 2 system at the event.

Xiaomi launched the SU7 electric sedan, its first EV model, on March 28, offering three variants -- Standard, Pro, and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($30,360), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.

Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun unveiled the SU7 Ultra prototype during his annual speech on July 19, saying it was based on the SU7 and built for performance and the track.

The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra would be officially launched in the first half of 2025, and it would feature the same chassis structure, triple motors, and battery pack as the prototype, Lei said in a live video on July 23.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra production version will be slightly more expensive, but not particularly so, Lei said at the time.

The SU7 Ultra prototype is powered by Xiaomi's V8s motor, which spins at 27,200 rpm and delivers 1,548 horsepower.

The model can sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.97 seconds and can accelerate from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour in 5.96 with a top speed of over 350 km/h.

The SU7 Ultra prototype is powered by 's Qilin II battery, which still discharges 800 kW at 20 percent charge, has a peak voltage of 897 V, and supports a 5.2 C charging multiplier.

Earlier this month, Lei and his team took the SU7 Ultra to Germany to take on the Nürburgring, but were unable to complete the challenge due to rain.

The SU7 Ultra prototype's body cladding is made of carbon fiber, which reduces the car's weight to 1,900 kg, compared to 1,980 kg for the standard SU7 and 2,205 kg for both the Pro and Max versions.

Lei said on July 23 that the production version of the SU7 Ultra would not use a full carbon fiber design because it would be too costly.

In a research note earlier this month, Goldman Sachs projected that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will sell about 4,000 units next year at an average price of about RMB 800,000, contributing 5 percent of its EV revenue.

Xiaomi EV said on October 1 that the SU7 has seen deliveries of more than 10,000 units for four consecutive months, and it aims to produce and deliver more than 20,000 vehicles in October.

Xiaomi EV is expected to meet its full-year delivery target of 100,000 units ahead of schedule in November, it said at the time, repeating its previously mentioned target figure.

The Xiaomi SU7 has clearly been a success, and Ford CEO Jim Farley has praised it.

Ford flew a Xiaomi SU7 from Shanghai to Chicago, Farley said on The Fully Charged Podcast, which aired Monday, adding, “I've been driving it for six months now, and I don't want to give it up.”
