Leapmotor International plans to increase its global sales outlets to 350 in the fourth quarter, including more than 200 in Europe.
Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Leapmotor has begun sales of two models in more than 10 European countries, as its joint effort with Stellantis NV (NYSE: STLA) continues to advance.
The Leapmotor C10 and T03 were officially launched in Europe on September 24 with a global media test drive in Milan, Italy, marking Leapmotor International's official European debut, it said.
The models are already on sale in 13 countries, including France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
Leapmotor International is a 51:49 joint venture between Stellantis and Leapmotor, headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
On October 26, 2023, Leapmotor said that Stellantis would invest 1.5 billion euros ($1.7 billion) in it for an approximate 20 percent stake, making it the largest outside shareholder in the EV maker.
On May 14, Leapmotor announced the official launch of Leapmotor International.
Stellantis said on July 30 that Leapmotor International shipped the first Leapmotor EVs to Europe, where the vehicles would go on sale in September.
Leveraging Stellantis' distribution channels, Leapmotor International plans to increase its global sales outlets to 350 by the fourth quarter of 2024, including more than 200 in Europe, Leapmotor said today.
In addition, Leapmotor International plans to release at least one model per year for the next three years, the EV maker said.
Starting in the fourth quarter of 2024, Leapmotor's commercial operations will expand to Turkey, Israel and the French Overseas Territories in the Middle East and Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Nepal in the Asia-Pacific region, and Brazil and Chile in South America, it said.
By the end of this year, the European markets involved will include Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, Leapmotor said.
Founded in 2015, Leapmotor is one of the first new car-making forces in China.
It currently sells the T03, C01, C10, C11, and C16 in China, with all models except the T03 offered in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.
The T03 is a small five-door A00-class BVEV with a WLTP range of up to 265 kilometers.
The C10 is an SUV (sport utility vehicle), Leapmotor's first global product built to global design and safety standards based on the LEAP 3.0 technology architecture, with a WLTP range of 420 kilometers.
Leapmotor delivered 30,305 vehicles in August, an increase of 113.5 percent over the same month last year and 37.1 percent over the previous month.
At the end of August, Leapmotor had delivered 444,918 vehicles since its inception, data monitored by CnEVPost showed.
