That's about six months after the Han sedan's last update, as BYD accelerates the rollout of new products and updates to existing models.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will reportedly roll out an update for the Han in two days, bringing the LiDAR option to the sedan for the first time.
The 2025 BYD Han will go on sale on September 6, local automotive media Dongchedi reported today, citing BYD sources.
The updated Han will offer a LiDAR option, with the component being mounted on the roof, the report noted.
The hybrid version of the 2025 Han will be based on BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, according to the report. BYD unveiled its fifth-generation DM technology on May 28, bringing lower fuel consumption.
The updated Han entered a model catalog published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in July, indicating that it will be available in plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions.
The model measures 1,910 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, and its BEV version measures 4,995 mm in length, while the PHEV version is available in 4,995 mm and 4,975 mm length options.
The updated Han DM-i is powered by an engine with a displacement of 1,498 ml and a peak power of 115 kW, while its BEV variant is powered by an electric motor with a peak power of 168 kW.
Its hybrid variant comes with two different battery packs with capacities of 12.960 kWh, 18.316 kWh and offers battery ranges of 70 km and 102 km respectively.
The Han BEV comes with a battery pack with a capacity of 72 kWh and a CLTC range of 605 km, according to the catalog.
The launch of the 2025 BYD Han comes about six months after the model's last update.
BYD launched the Han Glory Edition on February 28 at a starting price of RMB 169,800 ($23,860), which is RMB 20,000 lower than its predecessor.
The Han sold 17,029 units in August, down 25.18 percent year-on-year and down 5.67 percent from July, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the January-August period, Han sold 139,252 vehicles, down 3.32 percent year-on-year, contributing 5.98 percent of BYD's new energy vehicle sales in the same period.
