Avatr Technology, the electric vehicle (EV) brand backed by Changan Automobile, , and , is set to unveil a new limited-edition model next week to target fashion-conscious potential customers.

Avatr will let the Avatr 012 make its debut in Shanghai on August 20, with the launch event set to begin at 8 pm Beijing time that day, the company announced on Weibo today.

Avatr said in May that Dior and Fendi artistic director Kim Jones and Avatr chief design officer Nader Faghihzadeh would create a co-branded limited edition Avatr 012 model.

Jones said at the time that the Avatr 012 would be an extension of his home space.

Avatr was formerly known as Changan , which was founded by Changan and Nio (NYSE: NIO) on July 10, 2018, when each party took a 50 percent stake in the company. Nio has now essentially exited from the company.

In late August 2021, Changan, CATL, and Huawei jointly announced the updated Avatr brand, saying at the time that they would build EVs based on a co-created CHN architecture, where C stands for Changan, H for Huawei, and N for CATL.

Avatr launched the Avatr 11 all-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle), its first model, on August 8, 2022, with a current starting price of RMB 300,800 ($41,900) to RMB 390,800

Alongside the Avatr 11, the company rolled out the Avatr 011, which is based on the SUV and is limited to 500 units.

The Avatr 011 is painted in black to emphasize its special edition status.

The Avatr 012 will be the second limited edition Avatr model and is expected to be based on the Avatr 12 all-electric sedan.

Originally launched on November 10, 2023, and receiving a 2024 model year update on March 29 this year, the Avatr 12 currently has a starting price range of RMB 265,800 to RMB 400,800.

Avatr delivered 3,625 vehicles in July, up 102.97 percent year-on-year but down 22.58 percent from June, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

In the January-July period, Avatr delivered 32,655 vehicles, up 160.59 percent year-on-year.
