The Deepal S07 SUV, available in EREV and BEV variants, replaces the S7 to better align with the company's global strategy.
Deepal, the new energy vehicle (NEV) unit of Changan Automobile, has rolled out its new model Deepal S07 to target global markets.
Deepal launched the Deepal S07 SUV (sport utility vehicle) in China at an event yesterday evening as its next-generation global strategic model, which continues to offer extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) options.
Deepal's previously available models in China include the SL03 series of electric sedans, the S7 SUV, and the G318 SUV, with the newly launched S07 replacing the S7, which is no longer shown on Deepal's website, to better align with the company's global strategy.
The NEV maker started selling the SL03 and S7 at the Thailand auto show on November 29, 2023, but the S7 was rebranded as the S07 in Thailand for reasons including registration.
Deepal offers 10 variants for the Deepal S07 in China, including six EREV variants and four BEV variants, with a starting price range of RMB 149,900 ($20,730) to RMB 212,900.
The model is a mid-size SUV which measures 4,750 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,625 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. The dimensions are identical to the Deepal S7 which was launched on June 25, 2023.
The Deepal S07 EREV is powered by an engine with a displacement of 1.5 L and a maximum power of 70 kW. It has two options of electric motors with a maximum power of 175 kW and 190 kW respectively.
The EREV variants have 3 range options with CLTC battery ranges of 125 km, 215 km and 285 km. It has a combined range of up to 1,200 km on full fuel and full charge.
The Deepal S07 BEV also comes with two options of electric motors with maximum power of 160 kW and 190 kW. It offers two range options with CLTC ranges of 520 km and 628 km respectively.
The EREV and BEV variants of the Deepal S07 each include two with Huawei's Qiankun ADS (Advanced Driving System) intelligent driving system, which boasts of enhanced hardware to enable features including highway pilot assisted driving and intelligent parking.
All variants of the model support 3C fast charging, which takes 15 minutes to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent. C refers to the charging multiplier, and theoretically 3C means it can be fully charged in a third of an hour.
Deepal, Changan's NEV brand announced in 2022, launched the Deepal SL03 on July 25, 2022, a competitor to Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3. Deepal S07 is a competitor to Tesla's Model Y.
On June 13, Deepal launched the Deepal G318 SUV, but only EREV variants are available at a starting price of RMB 175,900.
Deepal delivered 16,659 vehicles in June, up 107.18 percent year-on-year and up15.92 percent from May, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first half of the year, Deepal delivered 83,858 vehicles, up 101.46 percent from a year earlier.
