CATL increased its share of China's electric vehicle (EV) battery market in June, while BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) lost ground.

In June, China's power battery installations amounted to 42.8 GWh, up 30.2 percent year-on-year and up 7.3 percent from May, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).

CATL installed 19.05 GWh of power batteries in June, continuing to rank first with a 45.06 percent share, up 1.19 percentage points from May's 43.87 percent share.

BYD's power battery installed capacity was 10.70 GWh in June, ranking second with a 25.32 percent share, down 3.65 percentage points from 28.97 percent in May.

CALB installed 3.10 GWh of power batteries in June, ranking third with a 7.32 percent share, down 0.29 percentage points from 7.61 percent in May.

Eve Energy ranked fourth in June with an installed capacity of 1.69 GWh and a 3.99 percent share.

China's lithium ternary battery installed capacity in June was 11.1 GWh, accounting for 25.9 percent of the total installed capacity, up 10.2 percent year-on-year and up 7.3 percent from May.

Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery installed capacity was 31.7 GWh, accounting for 74 percent of the total, up 39.3 percent year-on-year and up 7.4 percent from May.

CATL, CALB, and Svolt Energy were the top three in terms of installed capacity of ternary batteries in June, with shares of 67.69 percent, 8.88 percent, and 5.42 percent, respectively.

In the LFP battery market, CATL, BYD, and CALB had the highest installed volume in June, with shares of 37.55 percent, 33.66 percent, and 6.81 percent, respectively.

Notably, in the LFP battery market, CATL's installations overtook BYD's again in June.

CATL's share of the LFP market was higher than BYD's in both January and February, but that position was lost to BYD from March through May.
