The 2025 BYD Dolphin continues to be offered in four variants at the same prices, but brings longer range to the entry and top-trim variants.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the 2025 Dolphin compact electric vehicle (EV), bringing upgrades including longer range while keeping the prices unchanged.
The new energy vehicle (NEV) maker today rolled out the 2025 Dolphin, which like its predecessor, the Dolphin Glory Edition, continues to be offered in four variants.
The starting prices for the four variants of the 2025 Dolphin are RMB 99,800 ($13,730), RMB 112,800, RMB 119,800 and RMB 129,800 respectively, in line with the Dolphin Glory Edition.
It's worth noting that the Dolphin Glory Edition was only launched on February 23, and the 2025 model is introduced less than six months after the last update.
Updating the model again in such a short interval highlights how BYD, with its vertical integration of the supply chain, has acted swiftly in response to the changing market environment.

The all-electric Dolphin, which initially went on sale in August 2021, is the first model in BYD's e-Platform 3.0 and the first in its Ocean lineup.
The all-electric mini EV looks a bit like the Honda Fit and is offered in a variety of exterior color options to target a younger demographic.
The 2025 Dolphin measures 4,125 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, dimensions unchanged since its initial launch in 2021.
The updated Dolphin brings a larger battery pack for the entry-level and highest-priced variants, resulting in a longer range.
The three lower-priced variants of the 2025 Dolphin are powered by a blade battery with a capacity of 44.928 kWh based on lithium iron phosphate chemistry, boasting a CLTC range of 420 kilometers.
Its highest priced variant carries a larger blade battery with a capacity of 60.48 kWh and has a CLTC range of 520 km.
For comparison, the four variants of the Dolphin Glory Edition carry battery packs with capacities of 32.256 kWh, 44.928 kWh, 44.928 kWh, 44.928 kWh, and 44.928 kWh, and have CLTC ranges of 302 km, 420 km, 420 km, and 401 km, respectively.
The 2025 Dolphin's three lower-priced variants have the same powertrain as the Dolphin Glory Edition, with an electric motor that produces 70 kW of peak power and 180 Nm of peak torque, capable of accelerating the vehicle from 0 to 50 kilometers per hour in 3.9 seconds.
Its highest priced variant is powered by a more powerful motor with 150 kW of peak power and 310 Nm of peak torque that enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 3.5 seconds.
As a comparison, the highest priced variant of the Dolphin Glory Edition has an electric motor that peaks at 130 kW and peak torque of 290 Nm, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 3 seconds.
The Dolphin was one of BYD's best-selling models in 2023, selling more than 30,000 units in most months. However, the model has been weak so far this year.
BYD sold a record 341,658 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in June, including 145,179 battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
The Dolphin sold 10,860 units in June, down 65.13 percent year-on-year, though up 2.22 percent from May.
