Exeed, Chery's premium car brand, launched its new model, the Sterra ET, on May 9. The SUV (sport utility vehicle) is the second model in its Sterra lineup after the Sterra ES sedan.
Exeed is offering battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options for the Sterra ET, unlike the Sterra ES, which was launched late last year and was available only in BEV variants.
The Sterra ET EREV is available in three variants with starting prices of RMB 189,800 ($26,280), RMB 205,800 and RMB 225,800 respectively.
The Sterra ET BEV comes in 5 versions with starting prices of RMB 229,800, RMB 239,800, RMB 249,800, RMB 279,800 and RMB 319,800 respectively.
The Sterra ET is a mid to large-size SUV with the same dimensions for the EREV and BEV variants. It measures 4,955 mm in length, 1,975 mm in width and 1,698 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
One of the main competitors of its EREV variant will be the Li L6 -- Li Auto's least expensive model with a starting price of RMB 249,800.
The Li L6 measures 4,925 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,735 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.
This means that the Sterra ET is longer and wider than the Li L6 but lower.
The Sterra ET EREV is powered by a 195 kW electric motor and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
Each of its three EREV variants is powered by a battery pack with a capacity of 32 kWh, providing a CLTC battery range of 200 km. At full fuel and full charge, they have a CLTC range of 1,518 km.
The Sterra ET BEVs are equipped with battery packs with capacities of 77 kWh and 100 kWh, offering CLTC ranges of 540 km, 625 km, 655 km and 760 km options.
The battery supplier for both the EREV and BEV variants of the Sterra ET is CATL. its BEV version can be charged from 30% to 80% in as little as 9 minutes.
As of 6 pm on May 9, the Sterra ET has received 18,397 orders, Chery said yesterday. Deliveries of the model will begin on May 10.
On December 20, 2023, Exeed launched the Sterra ES, the sub-brand's first electric sedan.
The Sterra ES is available as variants built on the conventional 400 V platform, as well as variants built on the higher voltage 800 V platform.
The sedan starts at as low as RMB 225,800, with the entry-level version offering a CLTC range of 550 kilometers, while a more expensive version has a CLTC range of up to 905 kilometers.
