Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) said cumulative orders for the Li L6 exceeded 20,000 units, 12 days after the launch of the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV).
Li L6 has delivered more than 2,000 units in the past six days, and delivery centers will be open for deliveries during the upcoming Labor Day holiday, Li Auto said today on Weibo.
The Labor Day holiday in China is May 1-5 this year. As part of the holiday schedule, May 11 will be an extra workday, albeit a Saturday.
Li Auto will be ramping up production capacity to allow more customers to get their Li L6 as early as possible, the company said.
Li Auto officially launched the five-seat SUV Li L6 on April 18, offering two trims, Pro and Max, with starting prices of RMB 249,800 ($34,490) and RMB 279,800, respectively. Li L6 deliveries began on April 24.
The Li L6 is the Li Auto's lowest priced. The company's previous lowest-priced model was the 2024 Li L7, which currently starts at RMB 301,800.
In ascending order of price, Li Auto's current model range includes Air, Pro, Max, and Ultra versions. The Li L6 sparked some speculation after its launch that the company might launch a lower-priced Li L6 Air in the future.
Earlier this month, Li Auto said that it has no plans for a variant with lower specifications than the Li L6 Pro while responding to a question about whether there will be a Li L6 Air.
On April 22, Li Auto drastically cut the prices of all models except the Li L6, the first local carmaker to follow suit after Tesla's latest price cut.
Li Auto had previously been too optimistic about the market, so it adjusted its expectations, the company's president of product lines, Liu Jie, said in an interview with local media on the sidelines of the Beijing auto show earlier this month.
The company will adjust its judgment of the market this year to a more rational and conservative state, Liu said.
Li Auto originally aimed to sell 800,000 vehicles in 2024, but with the Li Mega MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) not performing as well as expected in the initial period of its launch, the target will be difficult to reach.
Li Auto now expects to sell between 560,000 and 640,000 vehicles in 2024, down from its previous target of 650,000 to 800,000, local media outlet Xchuxing said in a March 21 report, citing minutes of a meeting of the company.
