Denza, BYD's premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, officially unveiled its new model, the Denza Z9GT, at the Beijing auto show today.

The Z9GT is Denza's luxury flagship sedan model, albeit with a different rear end design than regular sedans.

The model is the first in Denza's Z-series, which will be sedans. GT stands for Grand Tourer.

The first model of the rebranded Denza is the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), while the other two models are the N7 and N8 SUVs (sport utility vehicle) of the N-series.

The front of the Z9GT features the so-called Solar Diadem design language with LiDAR below the license plate frame.

Its overall design looks to have a more rearward center of gravity to highlight the sporty character.

The model measures 5,180 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width and 1,500/1,480 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.

The car will be based on BYD's e3 technology, and the powertrain includes three electric motors with peak power of 230 kW, 240 kW, and 240 kW respectively.

The model has a power of almost 1,000 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than three seconds.

BYD unveiled its e⁴ technology when it unveiled its ultra-luxury Yangwang brand on January 5, 2023, a powertrain centered on a quad-motor independent drive with more than 1,000 hp.

The Z9GT, powered by e3 technology, can complete a moose test at speeds of up to 85 kilometers per hour, Denza said.

Denza will hold a technology launch event about the Z9GT in May and the official launch will be at the end of the year, the company said.

Denza was founded in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, each holding a 50 percent stake at the time. In February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz. BYD's stake in Denza increased to 90 percent in 2022.
