This is the first production license in the global eVTOL industry and is another important milestone since the EH216-S obtained the Type Certificate and Standard Airworthiness Certificate, Ehang said in a statement today.

This marks the EH216-S's entry into large-scale production, paving the way for the next step in commercial operations, according to the company.

Obtaining the Production Certificate indicates that Ehang has established a mass production quality management system that meets the requirements of China's civil aviation airworthiness regulations and has been authorized to proceed with the mass production of the EH216-S, it said.

This is an important milestone for the EH216-S to step into the scale production phase and a key step for Ehang to advance its commercial operations, said Hu Huazhi, founder, chairman and CEO of the eVTOL maker.

Ehang will gradually scale up production and delivery to bring safe and reliable UAM to the global market, Hu said.

On October 13, 2023, Ehang announced that the EH216-S was officially awarded Type Certificate by the CAAC, qualifying it for commercial operation of manned UAMs.

On December 21, the EH216-S received the Airworthiness Certificate and was delivered to its first customers, according to information previously announced by the company.

On February 2, Ehang announced that the official guide price of the EH216-S in China would be RMB 2.39 million ($330,000), which became effective on April 1, 2024.

The EH216-S is powered by a power battery to provide the energy needed to fly and has a maximum takeoff weight of 650 kilograms, according to information previously announced by Ehang.

The UAM has a maximum flight speed of 130 kilometers per hour and a maximum endurance of 25 minutes.
