The company signed a land purchase agreement with Thai industrial property developer WHA Industrial Development PLC, a subsidiary of WHA Group, back in September 2022 to build an EV plant there.

On March 10, 2023, BYD held a groundbreaking ceremony for the plant, as well as a delivery ceremony for the 9,999th and the 10,000th BYD Atto 3 there.

The plant is expected to start production in 2024 with an annual capacity of around 150,000 units, BYD said at the time.

In addition to Thailand, BYD started production at its plant in Uzbekistan in January this year and is also building passenger car plants in Hungary and Brazil.

In 2024, BYD's full-year sales are expected to grow more than 20 percent from 2023, with overseas sales targeted at 500,000 units, Wang Chuanfu said.
