Polestar (NASDAQ: PSNY), the premium electric vehicle (EV) maker owned by Geely and Volvo Cars, has dramatically lowered the price of its Polestar 4 SUV in China, but it's only available to the first 100 customers.
Polestar announced today on Weibo that Chinese customers who buy the Polestar 4 now will get a discount of RMB 60,000 yuan ($8,340).
The discount is limited to customers who purchase the model between March 1-31, and is only available to the first 100 people who paid a deposit.
With the benefit, the Polestar 4's starting price is lowered to RMB 239,900, the company noted.
Polestar's poster shows that there are currently three versions of the Polestar 4, with starting prices of RMB 299,900, RMB 339,900, and RMB 399,900 before the discount.
In addition to the discount, Polestar is also offering other limited-time benefits available in March, including a free upgrade to the smart driving suit worth RMB 35,000, Nappa seat upgrades halved from RMB 28,000 to RMB 14,000, and the price of the performance package halved from RMB 30,000 to RMB 15,000.
Polestar launched the Polestar 4 in China on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 17, 2023, when the starting price range was RMB 349,800 to 533,800 yuan.
On November 16, 2023, Polestar lowered the model's starting price to RMB 299,900 by stripping out the benefit package that was originally included in the Polestar 4's price.
Polestar began delivering the Polestar 4 in China on January 12, when it offered four versions with starting prices of RMB 299,900, RMB 339,900, RMB 369,900, and RMB 399,900, respectively.
