Neta Auto, a subsidiary of Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Hozon Auto, will begin deliveries of a new model, the Neta L, in April, its CEO Zhang Yong said today on Weibo.
The Neta L has yet to be officially launched and Zhang said the Neta team is still discussing the model's configuration.
Neta has been warming up for the Neta L for the past few months, saying the model will be available in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions.
Neta intends to equip the EREV variant of the Neta L with a 40.27-kWh battery pack from CATL only, Zhang said in a reply to a user in the comments section of his Weibo post today.
The Neta L is a five-seat mid-to-large-size SUV with a length, width and height of 4,770 mm, 1,900 mm and 1,660 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,810 mm, according to a previous regulatory filing.
For an EREV of that size, 40.27 kWh is a big battery pack. The entry-level version of Neta's smaller, all-electric SUV, the Neta X, carries a battery pack with a capacity of 51.8 kWh.
On January 17, Zhang said in a Weibo post that the Neta L will be the first model to carry CATL's Shenxing Battery's L-series battery pack, which has an extra-long lifespan.
Shenxing Battery is a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry-based battery released by CATL on August 16, 2023, which supports ultra-fast charging.
Vehicles equipped with the battery can get 400 kilometers of range on a 10-minute charge and is the world's first LFP battery to support 4C charging, CATL said at the time.
C refers to the battery's charge multiplier, and 4C means that the battery can theoretically be fully charged in a quarter of an hour.
In October last year, CATL and Neta signed an agreement to deepen their strategic cooperation, and will work together in areas including new technology cooperation, supply of Shenxing Battery, and overseas business expansion.
Neta delivered 127,496 vehicles in 2023, down 16.16 percent year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first two months of the year, it delivered 16,117 vehicles, essentially flat from 16,089 in the same period last year.
