Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) began offering a limited-time discount on the G6 SUV, after offering a similar benefit on the flagship sedan P7i earlier this month.

Customers who purchase the G6 within December can enjoy a discount of RMB 10,000 ($1,400), effective December 18, the company announced today on its social media platforms.

Customers can also opt for a 24-term zero-interest loan entitlement if they don't choose the discount, according to Xpeng.

Xpeng officially launched the G6 in China on June 29, offering five variants with starting prices of RMB 209,900, RMB 229,900, RMB 234,900, RMB 254,900, and RMB 276,900 respectively.

The limited-time discount lowers the G6's starting price to RMB 199,900.

Xpeng began deliveries of the G6 on July 10, and the model has seen strong sales as production capacity has been increased, although growth has leveled off over the past two months.

In November, the G6 delivered 8,750 units, contributing 43.66 percent of Xpeng's monthly deliveries of 20,041 units, according to figures released by the company earlier this month.

By the end of November, the G6 had accumulated 36,872 deliveries, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.

The G6 is the latest model for which Xpeng is offering discounts, amid growing competition in China's electric vehicle (EV) industry.

On December 8, Xpeng began offering discounts of up to RMB 26,000 on all versions of the P7i. The company said at the time that the offer was valid from December 8 to December 17. It's not clear if the P7i offer has been extended.

On November 6, Xpeng rolled out two new versions of the P7i with lower-cost lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, bringing the starting price down by RMB 26,000 yuan. Previously the model's battery packs were all lithium ternary.

On December 11, an Xpeng executive posted a Weibo poster showing that customers who purchased Xpeng's flagship SUV between December 8 and December 17 could enjoy a discount of up to RMB 19,000 off the price. However, the Weibo post has now been deleted.

The P7 series delivered 2,990 units in November, contributing 14.92 percent of Xpeng's monthly deliveries, while the G9 delivered 5,778 units, contributing 28.83 percent.
