GAC Aion's sub-brand Hyper has officially launched a new model, the Hyper HT, making falcon-wing doors similar to those on the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model X available on a relatively affordable model.

Hyper rolled out the Hyper HT, its first SUV and the brand's third model, at a launch event last night.

The Hyper HT is a mid-to-large-size all-electric SUV that measures 4,935 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,700 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,935 mm.

The model is available in six versions, with a starting price range of RMB 213,900 ($29,520) to RMB 329,900.

Hyper began pre-sales of the Hyper HT on October 19, when it was offered in four versions with a starting price of RMB 220,000 yuan.

The Hyper HT is only available in single-motor rear-drive versions, with the two least expensive versions featuring motors with peak power of 180 kW and peak torque of 355 Nm, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

The other four more powerful versions have motors with peak power of 250 kW and peak torque of 430 Nm, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

The model has 4 range options, with battery packs of 70 kWh, 72.7 kWh, 80 kWh and 93 kWh, and CLTC ranges of 550 km, 600 km, 670 km and 770 km respectively.

The 2 highest priced versions of the Hyper HT carry Tesla Model X-like falcon-wing doors.

The highest priced version of it comes with 3 LiDARs and a 5C ultra-fast charging battery that can get a range of 450 km in as little as 10 minutes of charging.

The Hyper HT received more than 20,000 pre-orders less than a month after pre-sales began, Hyper said.

The model will have NDA smart driving capabilities in urban areas in 2024, and will begin to gain the ability to pass at traffic light intersections and on major city streets in the first quarter, Hyper said.

By the third quarter of next year, assisted driving solutions that do not rely on high-definition maps will be available for the model in major cities in China, according to the company.

Hyper is a premium brand announced by GAC Aion on September 15, 2022, when it unveiled the Hyper SSR supercar.

On October 9, Hyper officially launched the Hyper SSR with three versions and starting prices of RMB 1.286 million, RMB 1.386 million, and RMB 1.686 million, respectively.

On July 3, Hyper officially put the Hyper GT on the market, also the 20 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) produced in China.

GAC Aion sold 41,503 vehicles in October, up 38.05 percent year-on-year, but down 19.56 percent from September, according to data it released on November 1.

In the January-October period, GAC Aion sold 394,489 vehicles, up 85.74 percent year-on-year.
