The annual Guangzhou auto show will open next week, and new energy vehicles (NEVs) will again be in the spotlight.
Auto Guangzhou 2023 will be held from November 17 to 26 at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou, the event's organizers said today.
November 17 will be the media day, open to media and special guests only, while November 18 to November 19 will be the professional visitors' day, with tickets costing RMB 100 ($14), and November 20 to November 26 will be the public day, with tickets costing RMB 50.
The show has six indoor exhibition halls and one outdoor exhibition area, covering 220,000 square meters of exhibition space.
The total number of vehicles on display at the show is 1,132, of which 469, or 41 percent, are NEVs. Foreign brands will have 119 vehicles on display, or about 11 percent.
There will be 20 concept cars on display at the show, nine of which are from international brands.
International brands including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, Toyota, Honda, and Nissan will participate in the show, while other participants include new Chinese car-making forces like Nio, Xpeng, Li Auto, Neta, and Leapmotor.
Notably, Jiyue, an electric vehicle maker created by Baidu in partnership with Geely, will also be at the show. The company launched its first model, the Jiyue 01, on October 27, with a starting price of RMB 249,900.
The auto show's parts, car tuning and new technology section will run from November 17 to 20, a slightly shorter period.
The Guangzhou auto show began in 2003 and has been fixed to be held in November every year for 20 years.
Last year's show was to be held from November 18 to 27, but was postponed to December 30 to January 8 due to the tough Covid situation at the time.
