China's passenger NEV penetration at retail stood at 37.7 percent in October, up from 36.9 percent in September.

China's passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) sold 765,000 units at retail in October, up 39 percent year-on-year and up 3 percent from September, preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.

This is higher than the 750,000 units that the CPCA had forecast in its report at the end of October, and would be a record high.

Between January and October, China's passenger NEV retail sales were 5,952,000 units, up 34 percent year-on-year, according to the CPCA.

Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs in October were 884,000 units, up 33 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent from September.

In the January-October period, wholesale sales of Chinese passenger NEVs were 6.792 million units, up 36 percent year-on-year.

China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles in October were 2.026 million units, up 10 percent year-on-year and flat from September.

This means that the penetration rate of passenger NEVs at retail was 37.7 percent in October, up from 36.9 percent in September.

Retail sales of all passenger cars in China from January to October amounted to 17.26 million units, up 3 percent year-on-year.

Wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 2.425 million units in October, up 11 percent year-on-year and down 1 percent from September.

From January to October, China's passenger car wholesale sales amounted to 20.241 million units, up 7 percent year-on-year.

The following is the weekly retail performance of the Chinese passenger car market in October, as announced by the CPCA today:

In the first week of October, from October 1 to October 6, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 52,186 units, up 68 percent from the same period last year and up 19 percent from the same period in September.

In the second week of October, from October 7 to October 15, daily average retail sales of passenger cars in China were 53,624 units, up 5 percent year-on-year and up 11 percent from the same period in September.

In the third week of October, from October 16 to October 22, the average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 59,600 units, up 11 percent year-on-year and down 2 percent from the same period in the previous month.

In the fourth week of October, from October 23 to October 31, the average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 90,343 units, down 1 percent year-on-year and 19 percent from the same period last month.
