China's NEV penetration at retail was 36.6 percent in September, down from 37.3 percent in August.

China's passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) sold 743,000 units at retail in September, up 21 percent year-on-year and up 4 percent from August, preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.

That's lower than the 750,000 or so units the CPCA estimated in its September 22 report, but still a record high.

Between January and September, China's passenger NEV retail sales were 5.186 million units, up 34 percent year-on-year, according to the CPCA.

Wholesale sales of Chinese passenger NEVs in September were 831,000 units, up 26 percent year-on-year and up 4 percent from August.

In the January-September period, wholesale sales of passenger NEVs in China were 5.911 million units, up 37percent year-on-year.

China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles in September were 2.028 million units, up 6 percent year-on-year and up 6 percent from August.

This means that the penetration rate of passenger NEVs at retail was 36.6 percent in September, down from 37.3 percent in August.

Retail sales of all passenger cars in China from January to September amounted to 15.24 million units, up 2 percent year-on-year.

Wholesale sales of passenger cars in China increased by 6 percent year-on-year to 2.442 million units in September, up 9 percent from August.

From January to September, China's passenger car wholesale sales amounted to 17.809 million units, up 7 percent year-on-year.

The following is the weekly retail performance of China's passenger car market in September, as announced by the CPCA today.

In the first week of September, from September 1 to September 10, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 43,885 units, up 14 percent from the same period last year and flat from the same period in August.

In the second week of September, from September 11 to September 17, daily average retail sales of passenger cars in China were 52,228 units, up 6 percent year-on-year and up 3 percent from the same period in August.

In the third week of September, from September 18 to September 24, daily average retail sales of passenger cars in China were 64,492 units, up 18 percent year-on-year and up 16 percent from the same period in the previous month.

In the fourth week of September, from September 25 to September 30, the average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 128,619 units, down 5 percent year-on-year while up 22 percent from the same period last month.
