BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) new sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao has unveiled the first official images of its debut model, the Leopard 5, after releasing a number of details over the past few months of previews.
Fang Cheng Bao today shared exterior images of the Leopard 5 across its multiple Chinese social media channels, showing off more design details of the model.
The Leopard 5 is the first model based on the Leopard aesthetics, and is also Fang Cheng Bao's fusion and exploration of power, technology and off-road aesthetics, according to a poster.
"The all-new Leopard 5, coming soon," the poster reads.
Fang Cheng Bao announced last week that its brand and technology launch will take place on August 16, but did not reveal further details.
BYD officially unveiled the Fang Cheng Bao name on June 9 and announced on July 4 that its first model is named Leopard 5.
BYD has been warming up the Fang Cheng Bao brand for months and released a video on July 21 showing some details of the Leopard 5.
BYD models currently target the sub-RMB 300,000 ($41,320) market, and it's moving into the premium segment with sub-brands including Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang.
The Leopard 5 is expected to target a market priced between RMB 400,000 and RMB 600,000, which will further enrich the price range covered by BYD's models.
The Denza brand has launched the Denza N7 and Denza N8 in the past two months to target the market priced in the RMB 300,000 to RMB 400,000 range.
Yangwang began pre-sales of the U8 on April 18, the first day of the Shanghai auto show, offering the Premium Edition and Off-road Master Edition, both priced at RMB 1.098 million.
The U8 Premium Edition is expected to go on sale in August, with deliveries expected to begin in September, Yangwang said previously.
