Fang Cheng Bao said next week's event will be a brand and technology launch, so the official launch of the Leopard 5 could take place later.

Fang Cheng Bao will hold a brand and technology launch event next week that is expected to provide more information about the (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) sub-brand.

Fang Cheng Bao's brand and technology launch will take place on August 16, the brand announced today on Weibo.

Fang Cheng Bao didn't provide any more details about the event, but its poster shows an SUV, presumably its first model, the Leopard 5.

BYD officially unveiled Fang Cheng Bao's name on June 9, and announced on July 4 that its first model is named Leopard 5.

The Leopard 5 is expected to target the market with prices ranging from RMB 400,000 ($55,283) to RMB 600,000, which will further enrich the price range covered by BYD's models. Currently, BYD models mainly target the sub-RMB 300,000 market.

BYD has been warming up for the Fang Cheng Bao brand for months, and in March, CnEVPost obtained several spy photos of the model showing the number "2316" emblazoned on the body.

The 2 in that string of numbers refers to dual motors, the 3 to triple locks, the 1 to a new platform, and the 6 to a June release, CnEVPost learned at the time.

However, in an image posted by Fang Cheng Bao on June 21, the number on the car has changed to "2318," suggesting that the model's release will be pushed back to August from the previously planned June.

On July 21, Fang Cheng Bao shared a video on Weibo showing the exterior details of the Leopard 5 from multiple angles.

It's worth noting that Fang Cheng Bao said next week's event is a brand and tech launch, so the official launch of the Leopard 5 could take place a little later.
