Images shared by multiple automotive bloggers show the prototype in the engineering stage, with the front windshield yet to be installed and the interior far from finished.

Two images of what is said to be a prototype of Li Mega, 's (NASDAQ: LI) first battery electric vehicle (BEV), are circulating on Chinese social media, generating a lot of buzz.

The images, shared by multiple automotive bloggers on Weibo, show the prototype in the engineering stage, with the front windshield yet to be installed and the interior far from complete.

No further information on the model is available at this time.

Li Auto unveiled its BEV solution on April 18, the first day of the Shanghai auto show, saying it is based on an 800 V high-voltage platform capable of a 400-kilometer range on a 10-minute charge.

Li Auto's first BEV model will be the world's first to feature 's 4C Qilin Battery, it said at the time.

With the launch of the solution, Li Auto will officially enter a phase of parallel development of its extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and BEV product lines, the company said on April 18.

By 2025, Li Auto's product array will include one super flagship model, five EREVs, and five BEVs, it said.

On June 17, Li Auto announced at its inaugural Family Tech Day event that its first BEV was officially named Li Mega.

Li Auto expects the Li Mega, which will be released by the end of 2023, to be the No. 1 seller of all passenger cars priced at RMB 500,000 ($70,160) or more, regardless of energy form or body style, the company said at the time.

The Li Mega will break the traditional perception that premium pure EVs cannot be hot sellers, Li Auto said.

The Li Mega will be Li Auto's first foray into the BEV market, and it will be an MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) model, according to information it previously shared.
