BYD's premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand Denza will launch its new SUV N8 early next month, just a month after the launch of the Denza N7 SUV.
With the gradual disclosure of Denza N8 product information, the new SUV has gained so much attention that Denza has decided to launch it on August 5 at the same time as a D9 variant, Zhao Changjiang, general manager of Denza's sales division, said on Weibo today.
It's worth noting that Denza only officially launched the N7 on July 3, its second model after the D9 MPV following the brand's shareholding restructuring.
The first delivery of the Denza N7 will take place this weekend and the company is gearing up for it, Zhao said today.
Denza was formed as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler in February 2011, with each holding a 50 percent stake at the time. In February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz.
BYD's stake in Denza increased to 90 percent last year, and Mercedes-Benz's stake decreased to 10 percent.
The first model under the new Denza brand is the D9, and the MPV went on sale in August 2022 and deliveries started in October last year.
Denza has been warming up for the N8 for months now, unveiling the exterior of the N8 on March 29 and the interior design of the Denza N8 on May 9.
On April 11, the Denza N8 appeared in a regulatory catalog with four versions, including a single-motor all-electric version, a two-motor all-electric version, a DM-i plug-in hybrid version, and a DM-p plug-in hybrid version.
The single-motor version is powered by an electric motor with a peak power of 230 kW, while the dual-motor version has front and rear motors with peak powers of 230 kW and 200 kW, respectively.
The model's length, width and height are 4,949 mm, 1,950 mm and 1,725 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,830 mm, according to the filing.
The Denza N8 will be able to take care of owners' urban mobility and off-road needs, Zhao said on July 25, and hinted that Denza will also launch larger SUVs over the next two years.
