Nio's battery swap network has completed initial coverage of the G42 Shanghai-Chengdu highway, and earlier today the electric vehicle (EV) maker saw the service reach the 25 million milestone.
Nio announced the progress on its mobile app today, saying it had deployed 26 battery swap stations along the highway, an average of one every 103 kilometers.
The G42 Shanghai-Chengdu highway is an important road connecting East China, Central China and Southwest China, with a total length of 1,966 kilometers across Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Chongqing and Sichuan.
Nio today put four new battery swap stations into operation, bringing the total to 1,553, 425 of which are located along highways, data monitored by CnEVPost show.
To date, Nio's battery swap network has achieved coverage of six vertical highways, four horizontal highways, and eight city clusters in China.
The company aims to achieve coverage of 9 vertical highways, 9 horizontal highways, and 19 city clusters with the network by 2025.
Earlier today, Nio saw it accumulate over 25 million battery swap services, 102 days from the 20 millionth service. The company completed its first battery swap station on May 20, 2018 in Shenzhen.
On July 9, 2021, Nio announced at its inaugural Nio Power Day event that by the end of 2025, it will have more than 4,000 battery swap stations globally, 1,000 of which are in overseas markets.
By 2025, more than 90 percent of Nio users will have at least one battery swap station within three kilometers of their homes, the company previously said. That percentage currently stands at 73.1 percent.
Nio aims to add 1,000 new battery swap stations in China this year, bringing the facility to 2,300 by the end of 2023.
As of now, Nio also has 1,502 supercharging stations in China offering 7,368 charging piles, and has 1,296 destination charging stations including 9,254 charging piles. Nio's charging map has access to 753,632 third-party charging piles.
