Local automotive media Auto Home today shared several spy shots of what it says is the Nio EC7, the coupe SUV expected to be launched at the Nio Day 2022 event on December 24.

The model's headlights feature Nio's family design and the rear details are camouflaged but smooth lines can be seen, the report noted.

The Nio EC7 is expected to be equipped with the Nio Aquila super-sensing system, the Nio Adam supercomputing platform and the NAD-assisted driving system, the report said.

The model is expected to be available with the same 75-kWh, 100-kWh and 150-kWh battery pack options as the ES7, with the version with the 150-kWh pack expected to have a maximum range of around 900 kilometers, according to the report.

Nio announced on December 8 that Nio Day 2022 will be held on December 24 in Hefei, Anhui province, where its two factories are located. The product launch event will begin at 19:00 Beijing time on December 24 and last until 21:30.

On December 12, Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong said in a media briefing that Nio would launch two models on Nio Day 2022, one of which is the ES8 based on the NT 2.0 platform, and the other is a very stylish new model.

Qin did not provide more details at the time, but that new model is likely to be the Nio EC7.

On December 13, the Nio App stopped showing the wait time for the EC6 coupe SUV when it updated the information on vehicle wait times, perhaps phasing out the model to make way for the EC7's launch. Last month, the Nio App stopped displaying the wait time for the ES8.

Spy shots of the Nio EC7 had been circulating on Chinese social media for the past two months before the latest ones were reported.

On October 11, local media outlet Xchuxing shared several spy photos of what is suspected to be the Nio EC7 on road test, a model that could come with an electric rear wing.

On October 26, three new spy photos of what is allegedly the Nio EC7 began circulating. "I wonder if it will be (Nio's) prettiest model," wrote one blogger at the time.

On November 10, William Li, Nio's founder, chairman and CEO, said in a conference call that the company will launch five models by the first half of next year and will have a total of eight available models by June.

Nio currently sells six models in China, including three models based on the NT 1.0 platform -- the ES8, ES6 and EC6 -- and three models based on the NT 2.0 platform -- the ES7, ET7 and ET5.

The company is expected to transition all three NT 1.0-based models to the NT 2.0 platform for a better intelligent cockpit and enhanced assisted driving capabilities.
