The Guangzhou auto show has been postponed amid Covid concerns, becoming the latest major auto show to be delayed after the Beijing auto show.

The organizing committee of Auto Guangzhou announced today that the show, which was scheduled to be held from November 18 to 27, will be postponed, saying the Covid situation in Guangzhou is still developing and the epidemic prevention and control situation is serious.

"We will pay close attention to the development of the epidemic, and strive to enhance the event's organization and service work according to the requirements of the epidemic prevention and control . The specific holding time after the extension will be notified separately," according to a statement.

The Guangzhou auto show is one of five biggest auto shows in China, with the Beijing Auto Show, Shanghai Auto Show, Chengdu Auto Show and Chongqing Auto Show as the other four such shows.

The Beijing auto show, the first and most anticipated major auto show of the year, was scheduled to take place from April 21-April 30.

However, on April 2, the event's organizing committee announced that the event had been postponed and so far no new dates have been set. Many car companies' planned launch events have been forced to adjust as a result.

The Chengdu auto show began as planned on August 26, but ended early on August 30, just four days into the event, due to new local Covid control requirements.

Notably, it appears that another, smaller show, the Tianjin auto show, will remain on schedule before the planned Guangzhou auto show.

The Tianjin auto show will be held from November 10 to November 15, local news portal TJ Yun said in a report today, adding that it is by far the largest international auto show in northern China this year.

The show will have a total exhibition area of 200,000 square meters, with 10 halls and outdoor exhibition areas, and will feature a total of 990 show cars, including 260 new energy vehicles (NEVs), according to the report.

International brands including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen, as well as emerging car brands including , Li Auto, Motors and will participate in the show, according to the report.

Tianjin added one confirmed case of Covid as well as five asymptomatic infections on November 3, according to local health authorities.
