NEV insurance registrations by major automakers in China fell in the first week of October due to the National Day holiday.
In the first week of October, major vehicle companies saw a widespread decline in new energy vehicle (NEV) insurance registrations in China due to the holiday.
From October 3-9, China's new energy passenger vehicle sales by insurance registrations were 71,177 units, up 46.71 percent year-on-year but down 49.81 percent from the previous week, according to data shared today by auto blogger @朱玉龙-YL.
China's all passenger car sales for the week were 325,988 units, down 5.47 percent year-on-year and down 39.25 percent from the previous week, according to the blogger.
It's worth noting that this drop in insurance registrations was to be expected, as October 1-7 is the National Day holiday in China, which will see a delay in insurance registrations. Although October 8 and October 9 are weekends, they are actually working days under the holiday schedule.
In the first week of October, the company with the most NEV insurance registrations was still BYD with 23,148 units, according to the blogger.
SAIC-GM-Wuling at 11,988 units, Tesla China at 2,218 units and Zeekr at 1,288 units.
Nio at 1,228, Neta at 1,213, Leapmotor at 958, Xpeng Motors at 580, and Li Auto at 194.
Data shared by the blogger on October 9 showed that during the last week of September, September 26-October 2, China's new energy passenger car sales were 141,829 units, up 95.20 percent year-on-year and up 1.88 percent from the previous week.
All passenger vehicle sales in China for that week were 536,604 units, up 35.40 percent year-on-year and up 17.74 percent from the previous week.
BYD vehicles had 45,624 insurance registrations in the last week of September, while Tesla had 10,651 and Neta had 5,278.
Nio was at 3,855, Li Auto at 3,555 and Xpeng at 2,128 for the week, according to the blogger.
