Earlier this month, information released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) already made the BYD Seal's appearance no secret, but the images released by BYD today are clearly better shot and make the model look more attractive.

Here are the images released by BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY, HKG: 1211):

The following is a video released by BYD after the release of the above images.

BYD unveiled the concept Ocean-X at the launch of its e-platform 3.0 last September as a prototype for the company's Ocean series sedan, which is smaller in size than the flagship Han model.

The BYD Seal measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, documents from the MIIT showed earlier this month.

For comparison, the BYD Han EV has a length, width and height of 4,980 mm, 1,910 mm and 1,495 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.

The China-made Tesla Model 3 has a length, width and height of 4,694 mm, 1,850 mm and 1,443 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.

The BYD Seal's price range is expected to be RMB 220,000 ($34,710) - 280,000, and could be unveiled around the Beijing auto show, local auto media Xchuxing reported late last month.

It's worth noting, however, that the Beijing auto show is set to be postponed due to the Covid outbreak in several Chinese cities, so it wouldn't be surprising if BYD's launch of the model is later than previously expected.

Earlier today, CnEVPost reported that had planned to unveil the ES7 in April, but has postponed the launch event until the end of May.

Dongfeng Motor's premium electric vehicle brand Voyah's Dream MPV, which was scheduled to launch on April 7, has been postponed without revealing a new release date.

Chinese electric vehicle startup Niutron has canceled the launch of its first model, which had been scheduled for tomorrow.
