With the Nio ET7 about to lock in orders, the company's new 7-kW and 11-kW DC home charging piles will also soon be available for ordering.

Nio's 7-kW and 11-kW DC charging piles will be available for order at the Nio Life online mall starting January 20, with deliveries expected to begin in early March, the company said.

January 20 is the date when orders for Nio's ET7 flagship sedan will begin to be locked in, and deliveries of the model will begin on March 28.

Until this year, Nio offered customers home charging piles including 7-kW AC charging piles and 20-kW DC charging piles.

At the Nio Day 2021 event on December 18, Nio announced the addition of the option to offer 7-kW DC charging piles, and 11-kW DC charging piles.

These two new options feature DC power output and can be connected to vehicles via DC charging ports for Nio NT2 platform-based models including the ET7 and ET5, and are compatible with existing Nio models ES8, ES6 and EC6, the company said today.

Current Nio vehicle purchasers will receive a 7-kW AC charging pile for free. The ET7 does not support AC charging, and those who order the sedan will receive a 7-kW DC charging pile.

If customers lock in an ET7 order on or before March 28, they will receive an 11-kW DC charging pile for free, or spend RMB 7,500 to upgrade to a 20-kWh DC charging pile, according to Nio.

Starting March 29, Nio will only offer 7-kW DC charging piles to customers who lock in their ET7 orders, and they can upgrade to the 11-kW version for RMB 2,300 or the 20-kWh version for RMB 9,800.

If existing Nio customers wish to purchase, they will need to pay RMB 7,500 for the 7-kW DC charger and RMB 9,800 for the 11-kW version.

For the 75-kWh standard range battery pack, the two DC chargers will charge from 20 percent to 90 percent in 7.5 hours and 4.8 hours, respectively, according to Nio.

For the 100-kWh long-range battery pack, that time is 10 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively.

On January 17, Nio announced it saw the delivery of its 100,000th home charger, nearly four years after the first home charger pile was delivered in April 2018.

The 100,000th home charger was delivered to an Nio ES6 owner in Shanghai, who chose the red 20-kWh version.
