Wuling's new minicar Nano EV goes on sale, prices start at around $7,800

After unveiling the Nano EV at the end of September, SAIC-GM-Wuling officially made the new minicar available today.

Wuling is offering three versions of the model, priced at RMB 49,800 ($7,800), RMB 54,800, and RMB 59,800.

The model is a new member of SAIC-GM-Wuling's GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) architecture. According to Wuling, the Nano EV is positioned as a "Couple Car" with a distinctive and nimble shape.

It has a length, width and height of 2,497/1,526/1,616mm, a wheelbase of 1,600mm and an overall mass of 860kg.

In comparison, the Mini EV, Wuling's best-selling electric vehicle, has a length, width and height of 2,917/1,493/1,621mm and a wheelbase of 1,940mm.

The Nano EV is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous drive motor with a maximum power of 24 kW and a peak torque of 85 Nm.

The vehicle has a combined range of 305km and uses more than 40 percent of ultra-high-strength and high-strength steel in its body, the company said.

The vehicle is equipped with battery heating and smart insulation functions, and offers a mobile app that supports checking vehicle status and making charging appointments.

The Wuling Nano EV is equipped with ESC body stability system, EPB electronic handbrake and reverse camera.

SAIC-GM-Wuling's three models of the GSEV architecture sold a total of 51,081 units in October, up 112 percent from a year ago.
