China to launch series of policies to support NEV industry, report says

China will introduce a series of policies to support the development of the new energy vehicle industry as well as its technological innovation, Shanghai Securities News reported on Monday.

The Ministry of Finance recently responded to a proposal made by some delegates at the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress, saying that the central government will continue to support research institutes to carry out scientific and technological innovation in the field of new energy vehicles, the report said.

The Ministry of Finance will support central-level research institutes related to the field of new energy vehicles to carry out independent research on selected topics through ways including basic scientific research business expenses, according to the report.

Relevant research institutes can carry out science and technology innovation in the field of new energy vehicles independently according to the national strategic deployment and industry development needs, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The Ministry of Finance will also support scientific research in related fields through the central financial science and technology program. Eligible research institutes can apply for support according to the procedures, the report said.

Currently, The Ministry of Finance is working with relevant departments to conduct a comprehensive review of the fuel cell vehicle demonstration city cluster implementation plan.

The Ministry of Finance will focus on supporting city clusters with good foundation, clear program objectives, clear application scenarios and guaranteed policy system, according to the report.

The unit price of new energy credits in China has risen from RMB 300-500 initially to RMB 2,500-3,000, according to a previous research report by Industrial Securities.
