Chery sold 7,255 NEVs in July, up 107% year-over-year

Chery's new energy vehicles sold 7,255 units in July, up 107.2 percent from a year earlier, the company said in an Aug. 4 announcement.

Chery said its eQ1, or Small Ant, remains the cumulative sales leader in China in the RMB 60,000 ($9,282) class of mini electric vehicles, with sales topping 200,000 units in the four years since it went on sale.

From January to July, Chery sold a total of 47,656 new energy vehicles, up 212.5 percent year-over-year.

Chery sold 83,678 vehicles in July, up 49.6 percent year-over-year. From January to July, Chery sold a total of 508,415 vehicles, up 74.6 percent year-over-year.

Chery said it exported 27,000 vehicles in July, up 194.8% year-on-year, setting a new monthly export record for the third time after April and June.

From January to July, Chery exported 145,367 vehicles, up 172.9 percent.

Chery said its total exports are expected to reach 300,000 units in 2021, keeping the number one passenger car export in China for 19 consecutive years.

Chery has teased the QQ Ice Cream several times, and the latest spy shots show a front resembling the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, China's best-selling electric car.
