GAC's GS4 PLUS SUV equipped with the Journey 2 chip and Halo in-vehicle smart interaction solution from Chinese chip company Horizon Robotics has been launched recently.

The GS4 PLUS gets fatigue alert and active human-machine interaction functions such as voice recognition, line of sight detection, gesture interaction and expression recognition through the chip.

Thanks to the performance of the Journey 2 chip, the GS4 PLUS can also be upgraded and iterated through OTA so that the intelligent cockpit can grow.

Currently, there are 10 models equipped with Journey series chips, and GS4 PLUS is the seventh.

As a new member of the GAC GS4 family, GS4 PLUS can bring a new experience of safer, smarter and more natural smart cabin to more users.

Priced at RMB 126,800 ($19,600) - RMB 149,800, the GAC GS4 PLUS is expected to gain traction in the A-class SUV market and drive growth in shipments of Journey series chips.

Horizon Robotics was founded in 2015 with investors including Intel Capital, Hillhouse Capital and Jack Ma's Yunfeng Capital, and partners including , , SAIC Motor, and Audi.

Horizon Robotics is on track to ship 160,000 automotive AI chips in 2020 and a million this year, the company said in March.

The company released the Journey 2 chip in 2019, which was the first automotive-grade AI chip indigenous to China. It consumes 2W of power and is based on the BPU2.0 (Brain Processing Unit) architecture, providing more than 4 TOPS of computing power to process multiple types of intelligent driving tasks in real-time.

Horizon Robotics' newest Journey 3 chip is equipped in the 2021 Li ONE model, with more applications expected in the future.

It plans to launch the Journey 5 chip in 2021, the Journey 5P in 2022, and the Journey 6 chip in 2023.

With AI computing power of up to 128 TOPS on a single chip, the Journey 5 series is described by Horizon Robotics as the industry's first full-scene, whole-vehicle intelligent central computing chip that integrates autonomous driving and intelligent interaction.

The Journey 6 chip meets the highest automotive safety standard, ASIL-D, with more than 400 TOPS of computing power, and uses a 7nm process.
