Huawei denies making its own-branded EVs, says strategy remains unchanged

In response to media reports that it plans to build its own brand of electric vehicles, Huawei denied it, saying its strategy has not changed.

The Chinese technology giant told the Securities Times that its strategy remains unchanged, Huawei is not building cars and will focus on ICT technology.

Huawei wants to be a supplier of incremental components for smart cars and help car companies build good cars, the company said.

Earlier today, Reuters cited sources as saying that Huawei has plans to launch its own-branded electric vehicles.

Huawei is currently negotiating with Changan Automobile and BAIC Blue Valley for OEM manufacturing, the Reuters report said.

Huawei disclosed a patent for "electric vehicles and methods for charging between electric vehicles" on February 23, according to data provider Qichacha.
