Smartphone maker Smartisan's founder Luo Yonghao posted his support for Chinese new energy car makers Nio and Li Auto on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, generating a lot of buzz among local internet users.
"Generally speaking, people who say Li Auto and Nio are bad are either those who have never touched their real cars or those who can't afford them. And then of course there are those who have taken sponsorship from their competitors," Luo said Sunday.
"Unlike other products where usually only the top three are successful (and sometimes the only way to even get by okay is to be the top two), cars are different. It's awesome to be in the top 10," he claimed.
"In that sense, these new car makers all have unlimited prospects. From a product perspective, my favorite so far is the Li ONE, and I've already recommended dozens of friends to buy it, and they're 100% satisfied," he said.
Luo previously praised the Li ONE on Weibo in June last year, saying "The Li ONE is the best car you can buy in the world at this price, and even when compared to cars several times more expensive, it is completely unbeatable."
Luo has already purchased the Li ONE, which costs RMB 328,000.
Luo is a Chinese entrepreneur and internet celebrity. He is the chief executive officer and founder of the Chinese technology company Smartisan Technology.
Since the collapse of Smartisan, which was created by Luo in 2012, he has been mired in debt of around 600 million yuan ($84 million) and banned by a court order from traveling.
