Chinese new energy vehicle brand SERES launched the SERES SF5 Free Expedition version at its launch event on January 25, which is said to be the world's first mass-produced electric vehicle with a range of more than 1,000 km using extended range technology.

The vehicle is equipped with SERES' newly developed intelligent extended-range system and is the first model to be equipped with DriveONE 3-in-1 electric drive system.

The model is priced at RMB 259,800 ($40,100), has an NEDC range of over 1,000km, and comes in three colors.

It is equipped with a dual-motor system consisting of SERES' self-developed 255KW high-performance SEP200 motor and Huawei DriveONE 3-in-1 electric drive system.

Huawei DriveONE is Huawei's first electric drive system, which includes seven components: MCU, motor, gearbox, DCDC (DC converter), OBC (on-board charger), PDU (power distribution unit), and BCU (battery control unit).

As an addition to the SERES SF5, the SERES SF5 "free expedition" version is equipped with multiple high precision millimeter-wave radar, high perception cameras, and other perception hardware, supporting Level 2+ of driving automation.

The vehicle's powertrain is claimed to consume 35% less fuel than comparable gasoline vehicles and 30% less than comparable plug-in hybrids, resulting in an NEDC range of more than 1,000 km.
