Chinese electric vehicle startup WM Motor sold 8,609 units in the fourth quarter, a single-quarter high, according to figures released by the company on January 4.
For 2020, WM Motor's full-year sales reached 22,495 units, up 33.3 percent year-on-year. Its first all-electric SUV, the EX5, has surpassed 40,000 cumulative sales since it launched deliveries in September 2018.
The company said its users drove more than 700 million kilometers in the year 2020, and WM Motor provided a cumulative 107 million kWh of charging service to its users, up 55.2% year-on-year.
Shen Hui, founder, chairman and CEO of WM Motor, said that the third new intelligent pure electric SUV of WM Motor, which will be launched in 2021, will be equipped with "Cloud AVP" (Cloud Intelligent Unmanned Parking System) to promote the use of 5G and L4 technologies in pure electric vehicles.
Shen said late in December that China's new energy vehicle market did feel the dawn of 2020, but it has not reached full-blown and 2021 will be the first year of truly explosive growth for new energy vehicles.
Although the subsidies are still expected to be withdrawn, the traditional car companies are bound to make more efforts in the field of new energy vehicles than expected due to the landing of other encouraging policies, and the production and sales of pure electric vehicles in China are expected to see significant growth in 2021, the Economic Information Daily quoted him as saying.
Shen believed that new energy vehicles in 2021 will see substantial improvements in vehicle range, intelligent cockpits, software services and OTA capabilities.
